The Trouble with Old Aeroplanes ( again! )

Well – she’s at it again.

On my last flight in JT the familiar winking low voltage light was doing its best to annoy me and the ammeter was showing a distinct lack of charge coming form the generator. Thought this was sorted. Think again.

Good old Jim has replaced the brushes for us and I’m just waiting for a chance to get out to the strip to give the old thing a ground run and see if that’s cured it. On a longer term strategy, we’re investigating installing a B&C light weight alternator for the Continental, which should be a more permanent fix and a much more reliable system.

If we can have the mod approved by the LAA, it will be a goer, and worth the investment.

I shall keep you all, riveted as you are, informed.
